Thank you for your interest in the BN Energy Bright Energy Assessment Program. Through this program, supported by the City of Bloomington and the Town of Normal, the Ecology Action Center provides energy assessments for residents and small businesses in Bloomington and Normal. We are excited to help you start saving energy!
Please note: The Town of Normal and City of Bloomington provide funding for this program. Therefore, residents and small businesses in the Town of Normal or City of Bloomington receive discounted rates for energy assessment services from the Ecology Action Center. If you reside in McLean County, but not in Bloomington or Normal, the rate for in-person energy assessments with diagnostic testing is $350.
The EAC is currently provides a variety of energy assessment options. The EAC requests that for on-site audits all individuals present wear a mask during the audit. Our staff is fully vaccinated and will also wear a mask. The EAC offers virtual assessments as an alternative for homes or businesses where individuals are not vaccinated and wearing masks, and for situations where individuals are not comfortable with in-person services.
On-site visits
- Visual inspection reviewing insulation levels, HVAC equipment, lighting, plug loads, and an energy bill assessment – $20 for Bloomington or Normal residents.
- Visual inspection with additional diagnostic testing; including a blower door test with infrared imaging to measure air-tightness and pin-point air leaks, and exhaust fan pressure testing – $80 for Bloomington or Normal residents.
- For McLean County residents in cities/towns other than Bloomington or Normal – on-site assessments with diagnostic testing – $350
Small business assessments cost $120 (not available for businesses that are not located in the City of Bloomington or Town of Normal)
The EAC offers waiver for Bloomington and Normal residents who have a financial hardship and cannot pay the assessment fee. Please let staff know if you need a waiver when you reach out to schedule your audit.
