What is involved in your program?
BN EnergyBright is a comprehensive energy efficiency resource for Bloomington-Normal. Residents can sign up for a low-cost home energy check-up and receive an energy-saving toolkit with a comprehensive analysis of their home or small business energy usage. We strive to make it as easy as possible to let you save energy and weather-proof your home.
How much is an analysis?
Each analysis costs $20. Add cost for small business? BN EnergyBright is run by the Ecology Action Center, a non-profit environmental resource center, and does not profit from energy audit fees. Instead, the funds offset the cost of the energy-saving toolkit, which can save each home at least $100 annually and has a retail value of over $30. Residents will not be turned away by an inability to afford the audit fee. Those who think they may qualify for a need-based waiver can select “Request a fee waiver” on the sign-up form, and a staff member will contact you.
What do you check in the home analysis?
Each home analysis takes approximately one hour. Professional staff will do a visual inspection of the outside of the home, check for gaps and cracks in windows, doors and foundation, conduct a lighting inspection, check for inefficiencies in the heating and cooling system, and more. Staff will also answer any questions and demonstrate how to install the energy-saving toolkit materials to ensure you can start saving immediately.
How do I sign up for the program?
Fill out our sign-up form, select an available day and time on the calendar and select whether you’d like to pay via a credit card or mail in a check. Once we receive your form, we will follow-up with you to confirm your audit appointment. If the available times listed do not work with your schedule, please contact us at (309) 454-3169 x.15 and we will find a time that fits in your schedule.
